Obituary

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1

Mother Inez Shelton was born January 6, 1920 in Midland GA. The 2nd Eldest of 6, to the late Annie and James Lundy.

In the 1940’s Mother Shelton met and was United in Holy Matrimony to the late Frank M. Shelton. Soon after they relocated to Boston MA. And from this union 3 daughters were born. Eileen, Theresa and Ina Lee.

Mother Shelton was baptized, ordained and served the Lord with her whole heart. Mother was faithful in many capacities in her walk with the Lord, as Sunday and Bible school teacher, missionary, President of the Usher Board, Evangelist and Elder. Her last capacity was as Mother of New Fellowship Christian Ministries, under the Leadership of Pastor John A. Bridges.

An entrepreneur, Mother Shelton ran a family restaurant alongside her husband and open her own early childhood learning center in her home. Mother had a deep love for Children and education. Her love for children made her open her home to many foster children, and her love for education led her to become an educator with The Boston Public School System.

Mother Shelton was a skilled seamstress and would often help out at her brothers cleaners in Roxbury Mass. She would always gift family with beautiful dresses and gowns. And if you caught her “eye” she would surprise you with a hand made crotched Afgan, scarf or even a cable knit sweater.

Mother Shelton loved her family. She was extremely blessed to see 4 generations of her rich legacy.

Mother Shelton was preceded in death by 5 siblings. Annie Mae Scott, James Oliver, Mary L. Sanders, Liler Vann and Margaret Brown.

She leaves to forever cherish her memories, 3 daughters and 2 son in laws; Eileen (Woodrow) of Boston, Theresa (Everett) of Boston and Ina lee of TX.

3 Grandchildren Danielle Ayanna, Autumn Rae and Reginald Lavon.

6 Great Grand Children Christopher James (whom preceded her in death), Cheyenne Janae, Cheyla DeJanae, Ayanna Daneya, Amani Alexis and Andrew Philip.

3 Great Great Grandchildren Tèo Karter, Kalani Aubrielle and Cairo Elijah.

1 God son Dante Shelton

I had the divine pleasure of knowing Mother Shelton by living in the community that we shared. I would see her in the lobby greeting each resident that passed by. Anyone that saw her was graced with a smile & a greeting. No matter how rushed I was I always took a few moments with her.
Her daughter, Theresa , & I became fast friends. When I didn’t see wMother Shelton for a few days I would always ask about her. Mother Shelton was a great woman and I would always remember her. When I think of her I will have a picture in my mind of her sitting in the lobby with a beautiful hat waiting for her ride to church.
My condolences to her family during this hard time. She will always have a special place in my heart’

Our beloved Mother Shelton was a great teacher to many and she didn't mind sharing her knowledge and experience.

One of my favorite memories of Mother was her ability to teach with what might seem simple yet extremely valuable to the student and their loved ones for many years to follow.

She took my hand and placed in it a folded sheet of paper. She said, always practice to give a child something tangible that they will remember.

This tool blessed more than my student's confidence and it asured parents and guardians alike tour work as educators commitment to teach was not in vain.

To all of Mother's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren please know each of you are in our prayers.

Love Always,
The Whitfield-Mullen Family
