Joey was born in Boston, MA on July 28, 1957 to Percy and Evelyn Cooper. Joey was the third of his siblings: Florine, Percy Jr. and Joey. Joey attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Boston Trade High School in 1975. After graduating high school, Joey attended Carpentry Training School and became a skilled Carpenter. Joey worked as a Master Carpenter for over thirty years for the Carpenter’s Local Union #40 in Boston. Joey received many accolades for a “job well done”. He worked on projects for MIT, Harvard University, and Beth Israel Hospital, just to name a few.

In 1981, Joey married his sweetheart, Arlecia Ann Thomas and to this union three sons were born, Jeremey, Joel,- and Joshua. Joey enjoyed traveling with his wife and children. They mostly enjoyed their time spent on Cape Cod where he could take joy in his favorite sport of fishing. Joey enjoyed the challenge of solving crossword puzzles, and also putting together table puzzles.
He is survived by his three sons, Jeremy, Joel, and Joshua Cooper all of Boston and his sister Florine Cooper also of Boston. Joey also leaves to mourn his much-loved grandchildren Jayde and Jeremiah Cooper of New Bedford, MA; Jiraiya Cooper and Jaime’ann Furtado of Boston, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn (Milton) Cooper, father, Percy Cooper Sr., brother, Percy Copper Jr., and a grandson Jahmai Cooper. Joey was a good neighbor and a good friend. He will truly be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. A Wake from 10-11AM followed by the Celebration of Life Service at 11AM at Riley-Antoine Funeral Home, 171 Humboldt Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02121. The Internment will immediately follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain, MA.
