Education was always a priority. In 1958, he started teaching at Mombin-Crochu for 5 years where he met Gertrude Desgraviers who later became his wife, the dearest person in his life for over half a century. After a few years, he was promoted to school Principal in the region of Beaujoint. Guillaume was very helpful and great leader to this community for more than 20 years. After his retirement from teaching in 1990, he became the adviser of Jean Bernadin in the Burnex department responsible for organizing official exams formerly known as Baccalaureat I and Baccalaureat II.
In 1999, he immigrated to the US to rejoin his wife and family. By this time, Guillame was retired and spent his time cooking, farming, gardening, and taking care of his grandchildren. Guillaume loved education and was selfless in his daily life giving every moment he had to make sure that everyone he came in contact with achieved their highest level of education. Guillaume gave advice; He lived a long and happy life and only succumbed to ill health right at the very end. He was an imposing figure of a man, a handsome character whose reassuring presence we all felt during difficult times.
As we gather here today to remember and commemorate his life let him bid farewell as we mourn the loss of a lively, dignified soul. A soul that brought joy and fulfillment to many and whose legacy will live on forever. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gertrude. His eight children: Guilene, Herns, Josette, Beatrice, Suzette, Louis, Paulin, and Fernande. His fourteen grandchildren: Anthony, Hernsline, Patrick, Christie, Benlee, Melissa, Judy, Deborah, Frydlin, Guillaume, Raoul, Stefie, Glaveniel, and Naika Paulina.
