Elder Annie Ruth (Burden) McKoy, age 79, joined the heavenly angels on Monday, June 1, 2020, at the Brigham and Women Hospital. She was born on April 5, 1941, in Robeson County, Lumberton, NC to the late Roy and Bertha McNeil-Burden. She was the wife of over 60 years to Bishop Paul L. McKoy Sr. (Emeritus) Founder of the Faithful International Fellowship of Churches and The Zion Temple Holy Church, Inc. Out of this union were born four children: Wanda Bradshaw, Elder Paula Lawrence, Bishop Paul McKoy Jr and Frederick McKoy.

Elder McKoy was educated in the Lumberton, NC school system. She held a certificate of early childhood
education from Wheelock College in Boston, MA. She worked at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in
Roslindale, MA as a nurse’s assistant for many years. She later established and managed Zion Early Learning Center for over 30 years.

Bishop McKoy and Elder McKoy joined the Bethel Pentecostal Church under the leadership of the late Dr.
Henry Bell. They worshiped there for many years. Later they joined the Holy Mt. Zion Church under the
leadership of the late Bishop K.C. Lewis. After many years of service, She and Bishop McKoy founded the
Zion Temple Holy Church. Due to the growth of the church, they relocated to several locations in Dorchester,
MA until finding the present location at 79 Stanton Street. After a few years, God called Elder McKoy to
preach the gospel. Whenever she spoke the Spirit of God always used her in a mighty way. Many souls were
saved and healed as God moved through her.

The bible tells us in the book of Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for
our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed.” this was
Elder McKoy’s testimony. In the year 2008, she was diagnosed with kidney failure and was put on dialysis. A
year after her diagnosis she became the recipient of a kidney transplant. After the operation and still under the influence of the anesthesia all you could hear throughout the recovery room was the word FAVOR being
yelled out by Elder McKoy. Elder McKoy had no problem telling anyone that she encounters that she has favor with God. Now everyone in the Brigham and Woman Hospital knows it.

Elder McKoy was a loving and caring person who truly loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She was
always willing to help anyone that she could, especially children. With all of her responsibilities, she still
found the time to do her favorite pastime, cooking. She was known for her famous fried chicken. Zion loved
her and she will be missed.

She leaves to cherish her memories: husband Bishop Paul L McKoy; four children: Wanda Bradshaw
(Johnathan), Elder Paula Lawrence (Ralph), Bishop Paul McKoy Jr (Connie), Frederick McKoy; three adopted children; Donna Jackson (Ondray), Lonna Gayle-John (Ray), Courie Gayle: seven grandchildren LaTasha Floyd (Sobeida), Tara Harris (Stacey), Ralph Lawrence Jr, Christopher Lawrence (Jazmyne), Paul McKoy III (Michelle), Anthony McKoy, Cherrell McKoy-Brown (Ryan); 10 adopted grandchildren; sixteen greatgrandchildren; two brothers: James Thomas Burden and Redell Burden; two special nieces: Regina Waters (Larry), Leona Ford; many godchildren, but the first Juanda Alexander and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Elder McKoy was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Bertha McNeil-Burden; five brothers: Robert
Burden, James Chester Burden, Willie Burden, Preston McNeil, Walter McMillian; 3 sisters: Veralee Burden;
Maybelle Thomas, Lessie May Burden-McNeil all of North Carolina.

Elder McKoy was a lovely lady who always showed love... I have fond memories of her. I remember when I went shopping with her and her daughter Wanda. We spent the whole day shopping for bargains at some of her favorite shops and had a good time together. Although she had health challenges over the year, she always bounced back. I had hoped this time would be no different and that we'd get a good report that she was back home. I was so deeply saddened when I heard she passed. I will miss her so much! Rest in peace, Sis. McKoy... You were loved by many!

Mother Mckoy, you have, as well as Poppa Mckoy have claimed me as your son and have surely been there for me through thick and thin for almost 40 years. Mother Mckoy was one of the true matriarchs for countless families and will be missed so much. You fought the fight, set the standards and now YOU are with the Father in heaven. The angels are rejoicing...i can hear them! Rest on Mother Mckoy. My thoughts, prayers, condolences and empathy go out to Bishop Mckoy Sr and to Bishop Mckoy Jr and all the family throughout and beyond this time of mourning. From your niece Regina and myself, rest in heaven and continue rejoicing even higher than you did down here on earth. I miss you Mama.

With Empathy,
Your son Larry
