Gennie Darnell Randall departed this life on February 21, 2020, at Bear Mountain Healthcare Center with his mother, and nephew, Hashim at his side. He was born December 4, 1952, in Franklin County, NC, the son of Nolia R. and Alma J. (Stallings) Randall.

Darnell was the third eldest child of five. The familyrelocated from South Carolina to New York in 1955, and later to Boston. He was educated in the Boston Public School system and completed the Job Preparation Center in 1970. He later joined the US Army National Guard.
Darnell had a passion for playing the saxophone and flute. He spent countless hours in his bedroom, listening to music, and teaching himself how to play. Eventually, as young adult he became the saxophonist at the Way of the Cross Church under the leadership of his great-aunt, Overseer Edith M. Kelley. When you saw Darnell, he always had his horn with him. He was always willing to engage in lengthy conversations about what was going locally and nationally.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Jean Seymour, and two brothers, Nolia Jr., and Ricky Randall; one uncle, Morris Stallings.
Surviving in addition to his mother, Alma (Stallings) Randall, one sister, Gwendolyn Randall, of Boston; four aunts, Betty Brown, Nora Jackson, Dorothy Hull, of Boston, and Lucille Durham, of Atlanta, GA; one uncle, Raymond Stallings, of Boston; many nieces and nephew.
