Obituary

Clester (Cle) Scott was born on March 17, 1948 to the late Verdel Scott and Lonnie Allen Daniels and in Arabi Georgia. Cle departed this side of Heaven fearlessly and in no pain on Saturday, November 9, 2019, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and other family members at the home of his daughter, Renee and Son-in-law, Edward Strong of Brockton, MA.

Cle relocated to Boston with his family at a very young age and was raised in the Boston area, where he attended schools within the Boston Public School system. Cle later furthered his education by taking classes in music theory at Berkley School of Performing Arts (currently known as Berkley School of Music), as well as the New England Conservatory of Music. Because of his love for music and singing, Cle became part of a singing group for over 20 years as the lead vocalist. They performed and were well-known throughout Boston and surrounding areas.

Cle later met and married his soul mate, Jean Scott, of Boston, MA. Cle and Jean were proud parents of their blended family; five children: Tyrone (Deneen) Callahan, Lamar Callahan & Renee Callahan-Strong (Edward), the late Regina Perry, John Perry, Jr.; eight grandchildren: Isaiah (Ana), Micah, Sarah, Malachi & Joshua Callahan, John Perry, III, Tre'Jean & Jayden Smith; two great grandchildren, Caleb & Karina Callahan.

Cle worked many years as a Construction Laborer through the Local 22 Union where he worked for 38 years. For the last 25 years of his work life, Cle proudly worked for Fred DeRoma & Sons. He had an unconventionally wonderful friendship with the owner Andy and his wife and kids.
Although, Cle was semi-retired since 2013, he continued to work from time-to-time because of his love for his boss Andy DeRoma, who was not only his boss, but also his friend. Cle had such a sense of fulfillment in the work he did, that completely retiring was not on his agenda. Any chance he got he would work on contracting projects.

Cle loved frequenting the areas of Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan. He could be seen getting gas at his favorite gas station, Petro Plus Super Station on Cummings Highway while playing the lottery. Petro Plus was the famous OG hangout spot. Cle was an avid investor, he made sure he invested in the lottery daily. The people at Petro Plus knew Cle very well.

Cle loved the local sports Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots! But even more than that, he loved spending time with his family, going to church at the Tabernacle of Praise and eating his favorite vegan cuisines!

Cle will be missed dearly; he was one of the most gracious men that ever walked this Earth! Not only was he dressed to the hilt, but his presence was Class and Grace!

Cle leaves to morn his passing his beloved children: Tyrone Callahan, Renee Callahan-Strong, Lamar Callahan and John Perry, Jr. ; his children’s mother, Ms. Jenny Callahan; preceding him in death his, sisters and brothers, Dorothy Jean Scott-Higgins, Lola Perry, Chester Perry, Sherlena Perry, Brother-inlaw, Theodore G. Higgins, Willy Graham and Sister-in-law, Jean Scott.
