Joseph Lafontant Benoit was a devoted husband, a hard worker, a businessman. As a salesperson, he used to travel to many countries, mostly in the Caribbean to buy goods and to sale them back in Haiti. He was born in a Christian family. From his younger age, he showed a high interest to know more about his savior, Jesus Christ. From 1970 to 1973, he studied theology at the Seminary Theology School of Bolosse. He was a Sunday School teacher at Bois-Piquant, a Baptist Church in Port-Au-Prince for many years. When he left Haiti to come to the United States back in the late seventies, he did not let the new materialistic environment change or shake his faith in God. As soon as he arrived in Brooklyn, he affiliated and became a member of the French Speaking Baptist Church there, in Brooklyn. He also was a Sunday school teacher at that church.
In 1988, in pursing better opportunities for himself and his family, he left New York to come to Boston, Massachusetts where he was also a member, a deacon, and a teacher of this congregation, Boston Missionary Baptist Church until he departed back to his beloved country, Haiti in August 2013. He left us and went to be with his master on the morning of August 20th , 2019.
