Joseph McCray was born on September 29, 1946 in Berkley County South Carolina to the late Roosevelt McCray and Rev. Rachael Lee. Joseph was a resident of Mattapan for over 40 years where he was an endeared member of his local neighborhood.

He was an avid lover of music (especially Al Green, Marvin Gaye, and The O’Jays) and was known to be the life of every party he attended. His infectious smile would light up any room and his full belly laugh would contagiously fill up any place it entered. His natural charm and wit made it easy for him to hold an audience and captivate people of all ages and background.
After several months of illness Joseph departed this life surrounded by his loving wife and children on Monday April 12, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Hattie, five children Leslie, Debbie, Julia, Bryan and Tanya, 12 grandchildren Shadeikquia, Lamant, Lamar, Ashley, Quadre, Jalisa, Marcus, Rebekah, Brianna, Tairo, Noah and Brittan., 3 siblings, Henry McCray (Bertha), Catherine McCray-Manigault (George), and Yvonne Perry, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a Viewing on Tuesday April 16, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00am followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 O’clock at Bethel Pentecostal Chuirch 112-114 Humboldt Ave., Dorchester, MA 02121
