Obituary for Alphonso Baker

Alphonso Baker was born on September 17, 1949 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Willie C and the late Queen Esther Baker. The Lord called Alphonso home on June 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his son, Alphonso Baker, Jr., and his brother Dwayne Baker.

Alphonso was born and raised in Boston, MA. He comes from a family of 14, where it was 10 brothers and 4 sisters. Alphonso is the 3rd oldest and the second oldest brother. Alphonso growing up was nicknamed Sausage and Pound. He attended Boston Public Schools.

He worked for Southern House, Bilt-Rite Recycling and Waste and City of Boston, where he later retired. Alphonso was a dedicated worker and loved all his jobs. Alphonso was the type of man who loved to talk. The one thing about Alphonso was he never gave into the times. He still wore his converse sneakers, shoes were always spitted shined, his dressed code was definitely the 70’s. He didn’t like to text, you were better off giving him a call, if not then you can forget it. He still had a flipped phone.

Alphonso would always lending a helping hand when he could. Every year for his birthday he would have a birthday cook-out and man could he burn, especially when he would put the ribs on, hours in advance, they would be nicely smoked and tendered. If you could not cook, there is no way you could be a Baker Boy.
Alphonso had two children, his son Alphonso Jr., who passed away at a yound age abd his daughter Heleshia Williams.

Alphonso will be remembered by longtime friend Fay Stallings; his daughter, helehia Williams: his 8 brothers Billy Baker, Darrell Baker, Tannis Baker, Gregory Baker, Kelvin Baker, Austin Baker and Mark Baker, his four sisters; Easnestine Farrar, Janet (Michael) Hartwill, FreDora Butler and Patricia Baker and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A Viewing will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 O’clock at Riley-Antoine Funeral Home 171 Humboldt Ave., Dorchester, MA 02121
