Obituary for Reginald Johnson
Reginald Leon Johnson (Reggie) was born to the late Emanuel Leon Johnson, Sr. and Mildred Rucker Johnson on December 16, 1941 in Richmond, Virginia.
At the age of 7, Reggie joined his father, Emanuel Sr. who had relocated to Boston, and his “second mother”, Annie Corrine Johnson and his toddler twin brother, Darrell and Douglas. Over the next 10 years, Reggie became the big brother to his eight siblings in Boston. Reggie was a strict disciplinarian when his younger siblings were left in his care. He would have them sit quietly as he took control of the one television set the family shared.
Reggie remained in Boston and attended Boston Public Schools. He graduated from Boston English High School. After graduating from High School, he became a draftsman and worked for Stone and Webster in Boston. Reggie eventually sought to further his education and in 1986 he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Planning from the University of Southern California. In 1991 he received a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from ITT Tech in Buena Park, CA.
On the afternoon of Saturday, December 30, 2017, Reggie suffered cardiac arrest at his residence and God in his divine wisdom and mercy took him to his eternal home.
Reggie leaves to cherish his memory, the one he affectionately called “MA” Annie C. Johnson (Dorchester), brothers, Emanuel Jr. (Dorchester), Gregory (Randolph), sisters Denise Gonsalves (Steven) of Mattapan, Cheryl Bovell (Kenneth) of Hyde Park, and Renee of Hyde Park, also his mother, Mildred Johnson of Richmond, VA., and a brother Phillip (Richmond, VA).
Reggie was predeceased by his father Emanuel Leon Johnson Sr., brothers Darrell Anthony, Douglas Arthur and Robert Allyn.
He also leaves a aunt Charolotte McBrayer of Mattapan, MA., sister-in-law Blondell Johnson (Douglas) of Dorchester, Sarah Johnson (Darrell) of North Carolina, 4 sons, Anthony, Troy, Bryon and Ramel, 2 daughters, Michelle and Chie,
Reggie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives who thank God for the gift of life and for the grace that allowed Reggie to walk this road with us.
There will be a Viewing on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 3:00 to 4:00pm followed by Funeral Service at 4:00pm at Riley-Antoine Funeral Home 171 Humboldt Ave., Dorchester, MA 02121
Final Disposition: St. Michael Crematory.
