Obituary for Hazelle Colson (Burton)
Hazelle Rose Burton, otherwise known as PeeWee, died on Thursday, November 30, 2017, in Milton Massachusetts, after a brief illness. Born on September 3, 1958, Hazelle was the youngest daughter of the three children of Willam and Gloria (Hill) Burton and grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston.
Hazelle attended Boston Public Schools and served as a Private in the United States Army. For the past decade, Hazelle managed a chain of LaundroMax stores in the Roxbury and Dorchester areas.
She enjoyed many things in her life, but loved r&b and gospel music, dancing, playing at the Casinos and traveling with her dear and close friends. She wanted to enjoy life to the fullest, and that is what she did. PeeWee didn't sit still for one second, always available for anyone and everyone who needed her.
Above all, Hazelle was the matriarch of the Burton Family, always keeping the family together and ensuring that the tight circle left by her parents would remain strong. If you knew Hazelle, then you knew family was extremely important to her. The one thing that gave her the most joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren, spending time with them gave her profound happiness.
Hazelle was loved by everyone who came into contact with her. One of her most treasured relationships was the one she had with Donna Jones. They did everything together. Donna was/and always will be Peewee's road-dog. Donna was with Peewee from the day they met as children over 50 years ago, until the day the Lord called her home. This relationship will remain priceless. Donna will miss her very much and vows to continue to love Hazelle's children as though they were her own.
Last but not least, we have to pay loving homage to Mrs. Ida Mae Jones (grand ma). She took Hazelle into her arms and has loved and cherished her for the last 50 years, never to let her go. Mrs. Jones will always hold Hazelle close to her heart.
Hazelle is survived by her sons, Michael William Burton and Urban Eugene Cannon, and her four daughters, Malinda Gloria Burton, Monique Yvonne Burton, Tiesha Lawrence Robinson, Sade Toni Burton and her long-term partner of 15 years, Glen Clagon. She is also survived by her niece, Olivia Hazelle Burton and her foster daughter, Sabrina Smith, both of whom she raised and loved like daughters, and her six nephews, Shawn Burton, Daril Burton, Jr, Tyrone Burton, Donnie Burton, Anthony Burton and Jamel Burton.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Gloria, her step-mother, Florence Olivia Burton, and her siblings, Stephanie Inez Burton and Daril Alexander Burton.
She leaves to mourn her passing hosts of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear and close friends who will also miss her deeply.
