Obituary for Robert Mims

Robert Earl Mims of Randolph, Massachusetts was born in Elba, Alabama October 20, 1951 to the late Horace Mims and Essie Mae Mims. He received his early child hood education in Elba, Alabama. Robert sought Christ at an early age and was baptized as young boy. Robert relocated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1968 and was first employed by Boston University Hospital. In 1971- a mere teenager, Robert met the love of his life, Vivian Mims. In 1985, Robert began his career with the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) and retired in 2009.

Robert leaves to mourn his beloved wife Vivian Mims; five children, Carlos, Pamelia (Christopher), Tanisha, Rateeka, and Angel. He was preceded in death by his grandson Augusta Mims and three of his sibling; Elouise Mims, Louise Mims and Jerry Mims. Two days after his death, Robert’s older sister Martha passed away. Robert is survived by two brothers, Larry Mims (Jackie) and Eddie Earl Mims (Jean); three sisters; Betty Williams (Roosevelt), Mary Mims (Terry), Essie Muriel Mims (Burt). Robert leaves nine grandchildren; Trebor, Tahre, Dijiaura, Kevin, Nia, Jaeland, Ayana, Daishawn, Jalysa, Symphonie; four great-grandchildren Aniyah, Kassidy, Tariah, and King. A devoted niece Kimyana Murphy, a host of other nieces nephews, as well as his closest friend, Thomas Taldon.

In the late1980’s, Robert joined the Mason brotherhood and Moses Lodge #10, Roxbury, Massachusetts. By doing so his circle of family and friends became extended.

Robert was a hard working family man who lived his life to the fullest. Robert’s story-telling and humor was a hallmark of his robust personality and character. His love for his family, friends, fishing and southern cuisine was evident in various ways- namely through hosting family gathering and cook-outs. His generosity and selflessness will be missed and never forgotten.
