Terry Lynn Toney, daughter of Robert Levi and Anna Mae Toney, was born on April 14, 1960 in Alliance, OH. She departed this life on October 30, 2017. She received her education at the Morgan Elementary School in Alliance, OH; Frank U. Thompson School in Dorchester, MA; she later obtained her GED in Boston, MA. She went on to further her education and received certifications in Culinary Arts and CNA.
Terry held positions at TransCom as a bus driver and as an aid for people with physical and mental disabilities. She also managed the restaurant at Mr. G’s Cafe; she also worked at Chez Vous Family Center as a cook. Terry’s last position was at Primark in Downtown Boston.
Terry accepting Christ in the summer of 1991 and became a member of the Dorchester Temple Baptist Church (Global Ministries) under the leadership of Rev. Bruce Wall. She served faithfully as a member of the usher board as well as the hospitality ministry. She also assisted with the up keeping of the church. Ms. Toney enjoyed singing, cooking, being silly, playing games, spending time with her family and she loved all the sitcoms such as: WKRP, M.A.S.H, Sanford & Son, Benny Hill, Three’s Company (just to name a few). She loved roller skating at Balaroue and Chez Vous Skating Rink. . She loved being around her grandchildren as often as possible. She was a “no nonsense” and “feisty” woman. If she told you to do something you better do it “rapido”.
Terry is preceded in death by her parents Robert Levi and Anna Mae Toney; her brothers Ronald Willoughby, Robert and Tyrone Toney and her sister Diane Toney. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; Terry Ann Toney (Massachusetts), Richard (Strongbear) Francisco (Maryland) and Keonti Toney (Florida). Her grandchildren; Yamasee, Melvin, Pakawa, Elizabeth, Camanchi, Esmeralda (Emmy), Eddy jr, TeAnna Toney and BearPaw. Her siblings; Janet Jenkins (Ernie), Greer Toney, Denise Shulman (Ronald), Maryse Toney, Wilbur Toney (Patricia), Tracy Toney, Dorcus Dunham (John), Robert Flanders Toney, Dara Toney and Betty Lamar; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces and extended family and friends.
There will be a Viewing on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 O’clock at Morning Star Baptist Church, 1257 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, MA 02126
