Obituary for Florence Hill (Hardmon)
Mrs. Florence Ree (Hardmon) Hill, daughter of the late James and Christine Hardmon, was born on May 3, 1928 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
After graduating from high school, Florence and her family moved to Boston, MA in the 1940’s where she was employed by the State of Massachusetts at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital.
In 1958, Florence met and married the late Foster E. Hill. From this bond they had two children.
Florence worked alongside her husband in their company, Hill Reality until, 1977 when she became employed at Waters – Millipore Corporation where she worked until her retirement in 1993.
During the 1980’s, Florence, longing to help children, became a Foster Parent. In this capacity, she worked at the Lutheran Family Services, where she opened her home to many children from Cuba, Haiti, and the Sudan. One of the children in her care, Stephanie, had lost her father. Florence, ever the big heart, allowed her to stay with her so she could continue and graduate from high school.
Florence’s faith was very strong, and she loved to serve the Lord. As such she served as a member of the Board of Trustees and the President of the Usher Board at Peoples Church of God in Christ for many years.
Florence is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Hill) Stevenson (Rev. Ricky Stevenson), Judith (Hill) Wahl (Ivan Wahl), Godson Willie H. Hardmon Jr., God daughter Kimberly Garrison, God Son Willie H. Hardmon Jr., an aunt Charlesetta Doddy, six Grandchildren Antoine, Ricky, Michael, Charles, Johnathan, Christine and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
There will be a Viewing on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 O’clock at Unity Tabernacle of Holiness 2 Greendale Road, Mattapan, MA 02126
Interment: Oak Lawn Cemetery.
