Lucien Jacques Jean passed away on September 14, 2017. Lucien is survived by his children Richard Jean of Boston, MA, Ronald Jean of Pawtucket, RI Jacqueline Smith of Sugarland, TX and Kathleen Cesar of Atlanta, GA. His grandchildren Jadzia Jean, Zara Jean, Dominique Smith, Toussaint Smith Jr., Kyle Smith, Daniel Smith, Zoe Cesar, Gina Cesar, Gabrielle Cesar and Naomi Cesar. His brothers Yves Fritz Jean and Weber Hughes Jean, and his former wife Dieuvenise Jean. Lucien is predeceased by his brother Max Ludner Jean and his sons Erick and Guercy Jean
Lucien was born on January 8, 1931 in Maïssade, Haiti to Onesifort and Tassia Jean. He attended École primaire Cap Haitien Les Freres Canadien, Lycee Dumarais Estime in Hinche and Ecole instituteur Port au Prince where he became a teacher. Lucien taught for 10 years and served as a school principal for 4 years at Savanette Cabral where he met and married Dieuvenise Millien. Soon after beginning their family, the couple immigrated to the United States where they raised six children teaching them compassion, hard work, and the value of education. Lucien retired from Boston Medical Center after over 15 years of service. His surviving children remember him as an intelligent and fun loving father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Lucien passed away peacefully after a 10 year struggle with Alzheimers.
There will be a Viewing on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:00am followed by Funeral Service at 10:00 O’clock at Church of God Valley of Blessings, 1000 Blue Hill Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02124
Interment: Oak Lawn Cemetery, Roslindale, MA
