Anasthasie Vertus-Joseph, born on December 5, 1919 in Anse Rouge, Haiti. Mama Tazi, as all who knew her called her, was a hardworking, courageous, and generous person. She had a soft spot in her heart for children, and adopted a number of them unofficially throughout her lifetime.
Mama Tazi passed away peacefully in her home in Everett, MA on April 1, 2017 while her children and grandchildren prayed with her. She died the way she lived, surrounded by loved ones.
She is survived by her children: Alphonse Bien-Aime (Theramen Bien-Aime), Macula Bien-Aime, Rose Marie Bien-Aime (Wilner Ceptus), Marie-Andre TiBlanc (Fritzner Tiblanc), Raymound Bien-Aime (Raphael Lamour). Peirre Charitable Delius, her adopted nieces and nephews: Eliane Vertus (Etteine Marc), Leticia Vertus, Marc Antoine Vertus (Sienta), Linda Vertus, Atilia Vertus (Dabouse). She is also survived by 28 Grandchildren and over 50 great grandchildren.
Mama Tazi was preceded in death by Ernest Bien-Aime, Louis Joseph (m.1987) and her grandchildren Berthony Chery and Wigens Chery.
Mama Tazi had a generous spirit that was matched by the size of pot. Her sense of entrepreneurship drove her to invest in others, teaching those around her how to make a living. She was a very strong person who believed in hard work; even in her last months she had plan of things she wanted to accomplish. She leaves a legacy of generosity and kindness and for the generation behind.
