Obituary for Norman Jones Jr.

Norman Jones Jr.
Jones, Norman P (Norman Ben-Norman) was born to the late Chester N. and Lillie Lois Jones on August 6, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas. A sister Evelyn Honey-Lou Jones and a brother Harvey Edmerson predeceased Norman. Norman is survived by his wife Desiree Gowans-Jones of Canton, MA, his children Kemiyah Hilton of Clearwater, FL, Tania Mack of Frisco, TX, Norman Texeria of Boston, MA and Brooke Gowans of Canton, MA; grandchildren Chanele Gordon, Amaiya Mack, Mari Hope Lena MacMaster, Ava Blue Kai MacMaster, Brady Miles Mack and Savannah Landers; great-grandson Craig Williams; Brothers DeWayne Jones and Anthonie Jones.

Norman attended and graduated from English High School in Jamaica Plain. In 1974, he began his career at Boston Edison (NSTAR) in an entry-level position and worked his way up to an Electrical System Designer. He retired after 34 years of dedicated service. In Norman’s earlier years, he was an avid tennis player who could frequently be seen playing on the courts at Boston Common. He expanded his interests to chess and martial arts; in which he attained a black belt in Shotokan Karate. Norman was admired for his impeccable style and unique sense of fashion. In 1987, Norman acquired properties in the Roxbury area and through his passion to renovate them; he pursued professional certification as a license carpenter. Norman was a man of moral fortitude and great integrity. Norman deeply loved his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 25, 2017 between the hours of 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM with funeral services to follow at the Boston Teachers Union, 180 Mt. Vernon Street, Dorchester, MA 02125. Burial is private. Riley-Antoine Funeral Home is in charge of the services.
